Mega Millions ticket worth $1M sold in N.J. as jackpot soars to $725M with no big winner
While no Mega Millions tickets hit the jackpot in Tuesday night’s lottery drawing pushing the estimated top prize for Friday to an estimated $725 million, a ticket sold in New Jersey is among nine second-prize winners and is worth $1 million.
The $725 million jackpot for Friday’s Mega Million’s drawing would be the second largest in the game’s history and rank fifth all time in U.S. lottery history.
The winning numbers drawn Tuesday were: 12, 14, 26, 28 and 33. The Mega Ball drawn was 9 with a Megaplier of 2X.
The Mega Millions winning numbers drawn in Tuesday night’s lottery drawing did not produce a jackpot winner, pushing the prize for Friday to an estimated $725 million.
New Jersey Lottery officials are expected to reveal where the $1 million ticket was sold later Wednesday. The nine second-prize winners, which matched the first five numbers, but not the Mega Ball.
The other tickets were sold in California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Missouri, Texas, and Washington. Florida had two second prize winners and one ticket included the Megaplier option, doubling the prize to $2 million. The California second-prize winner is worth $926,572 because prizes there are determined by ticket sales. The rest of the winners are worth $1 million.
The last time any lottery player won the top Mega Millions jackpot was Sept. 15, 2020, when a $120 million ticket was sold in Wisconsin. Two top jackpots were hit in New Jersey in 2020. An anonymous winner claimed the $202 million prize won on Feb. 11 with a ticket sold in Edison and a $124 million ticket was bought in Bayonne for the July 24 drawing.
The Powerball jackpot has also been steadily climbing for months without a top winner. The jackpot for Wednesday night’s drawing is an estimated $550 million, though that could increase in the final day of ticket sales. That Powerball jackpot would rank in the top 13 all time, including the yet-to-be-won Mega Millions jackpot.Mega Millions ticket worth $1M sold in N.J. as jackpot soars to $725M with no big winner While no Mega Millions tickets hit the jackpot in Tuesday night’s lottery drawing pushing the estimated ]]>
