Mega Millions results for 01/05/18; one winner of $450M jackpot

LANSING, MI – There was one winner of the fourth largest Mega Millions jackpot in history as a lucky player in Florida won the $450 million jackpot. The lucky player matched all five white numbers drawn and the Mega Ball to win the grand prize.
That means the drawing on Tuesday Jan. 9 will reset to $40 million with a cash option of $25 million.

Mega Millions winners for Jan. 5:
- Along with a grand prize winner, $1 million winners were also sold in California, Massachusetts, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.
- Two of those players also played the Megaplier option which increased their winnings to $3 million. However, which players played the Megaplier was not immediately available.
- There were 1,221,362 tickets sold that won at least $4 in the drawing. In Michigan, 47,582 tickets sold won at least $4 in the drawing.
- Two tickets sold in Michigan matched four white balls and the Mega Ball to win $10,000 in the drawing. That was the largest prize won in the state.
Mega Millions drawings are held Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m. Five balls are drawn from a set of balls numbered 1 through 70; the Mega ball is drawn from a set of balls numbered 1 through 25. The odds of winning the jackpot is 1 in 302 million.
Mega Millions is played in 44 states, plus the District of Columbia and the Virgin Islands. Tickets cost $2 each.
